Terms of Use

These Terms are an agreement between you and Clumsy Cow covering your use of Chefling.
1. What Chefling does
Chefling builds a weekly meal plan from choices you make: where you shop, how many people you feed, what you can spend, what you cannot eat and what you have in your kitchen. It produces recipes, estimated costs and a shopping list.
2. Eligibility
You must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live.
3. Recipes are written by software
Plans and recipes are produced with the help of artificial intelligence. They are suggestions. Read a recipe before you cook it, and use your own judgement about times, temperatures and quantities.
4. Allergies and food safety, read this one
Chefling filters recipes against the allergies and diets you declare, using an ingredient table maintained by us. This filtering can be wrong, and it cannot account for how a product was manufactured, what a shop substituted, or how your kitchen is used.
If you have a food allergy or intolerance, always read the label on everything you buy and everything you cook with. Chefling is not a medical device and is not a substitute for that check. Never rely on it alone where a reaction would be serious.
5. Chefling Pro, the subscription
Chefling Pro is an auto-renewing subscription. Two plans are offered:
- Weekly — 9.99 USD per week, renewing every week.
- Monthly — 19.99 USD per month, renewing every month.
New subscribers get a 3-day free trial on the weekly plan. During the trial part of the week is locked, and the whole week opens when the trial converts. If you cancel before the trial ends you are not charged.
Payment is taken by your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless you turn renewal off at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of that period.
You can manage the subscription and turn renewal off in your Apple ID settings after purchase. Deleting the app does not cancel it. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
Prices are shown in the App Store in your local currency and may differ by country. Refunds are handled by Apple under their own terms, not by us.
6. Prices are estimates
Costs are calculated from real retail prices, drawn from published national averages, from supermarket product data and from prices we record ourselves, applied to the quantities in each recipe and rounded up to whole packs. Your till receipt will differ: shops price differently, they run offers, and pack sizes vary. Treat every figure as an estimate.
7. Nutrition figures are estimates
Where nutrition is shown it comes from public food composition data applied to our ingredient quantities. It is indicative and is not dietary advice. Speak to a professional about anything that matters medically.
8. Photographs you submit
You keep ownership of photographs you take. You give us permission to process them for the single purpose of answering you, as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to break, overload or reverse engineer the service, and do not use it to produce anything unlawful.
10. Intellectual property
The app, its artwork, its writing and its recipe catalogue belong to Clumsy Cow. You may cook from them and share a dish with the people you cook for. You may not copy, republish or redistribute the catalogue, in whole or in part, for any other purpose.
11. Third parties
Chefling relies on services from Apple, Anthropic, Google and Vercel. Their failures are not ours, and we cannot promise the app works when they do not.
12. No warranty
Chefling is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error free, or right about any particular dish.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Clumsy Cow is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Chefling. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
14. Changes
The app and these Terms may change. The date at the top says when.
15. Termination
You may stop using Chefling at any time by deleting it. We may suspend access if these Terms are broken.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by French law, without affecting the consumer rights you have where you live.
